I took my new nitro r/c for it's first steer today, and already i'm hooked. Really great fun despite spending a while getting the carb set up properly.

BUT, the steering is way off, and while adjusting the bias on the control helped, it's nowhere near a cure meaning that constant steering correction was needed.

I'm no expert, so where do I start? Do I need to get the wheels off again and adjust steering mechanism? I've looked through the manual but it doesn't help.

If anyone can offer some advice, please be basic as i'm new to all of this smile

Thanks chaps.

could it be the tyres you are using? if the tyres are ok try softening the back suspension, softer springs or lighter oil or both. you could also try making the front stiffer. Shortening the links will cause less roll therefore will give you less steering at speed but will make the car feel a bit more responsive going into a corner. Longer wheelbase perhaps?

Its more of a tracking issue, rather than handling (although that is twitchy- but fun).

The car steers quite strongly to the right when control is straight ahead, so you can't go straight without constantly correcting.

Can you adjust this? If you can, i'd appreciate any tips.

Live near me ?

Bring it round and I will sort it for you.

It you want to have a bash ..

1. centre the servo arm and trim. (if you have a sub-trim on your TX, use this to get the arm 100% square).
2. adjust the rod from the servo to the bellcrank(car depending)
3. from the Bell crank to the wheel hub/carrier, make sure both are the same length.
4. For the moment .. adjust to have the wheels straight ...

If you cant adust it enough by using the trimmer on the transmitter then it sounds like your servo isnt aligned properly.

Can you remove the servo arm from the servo and put it back on one notch along?

step 1, take servo horn off
2, switch on transmitter and car/reciever
3, centre up the steering trim on transmitter
4, turn off car/reciever
5, turn off transmitter
6, re-fix servo horn to servo
7, step 2
8, enjoy

It's a Thunder Tiger Tomahawk - the chassis looks like this

I think I have it sorted now, with a little help from you guys, and RacingPete here in the office. It's on the desk next to me right now, and looks a lot better than it did yesterday.
