I want to build one of these Extra 300 planes... http://www.rcpowers.com/extra300/extra300about.htm

You can buy a ready cut kit on eBay...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...
...but does anyone know a cheap source of Depron, or equivalent suitable material so I can cut out my own?

Where in the Uk are you???

Im jsut outside of Milton keynes, and use a place in Fenny stratford.

As an alternative, build it from EPP so when you crash, it literally just bounces.

I get that from flyingwings.co.uk- great people, really helpful.

EPP sounds good - what is the difference between Depron and EPP?

EPP is like tougher rubbery polystyrene. Depron is the stuff that estate agent's boards are made from (two slices of plastic sandwiching a corrugated core - looks just like corrugated cardboard but made from plastic.

No, Estate agents signs are twinwall polycarbonate, Depron is a thin foam sheet with a smoth surface, looks like cardboard but MUCH lighter.
A quick google shows here :-http://www.depronfoam.com/

Depron is primarily used as underfloor insulation and can usually be bought from flooring suppliers much cheaper than the hobby shops sell it for.

See; http://www.realoakfloors.co.uk/depron_wood_floorin...

Roop, EPP is expanded Polypropolene & is used for some ready made models.
Link is here http://www.eppfoam.co.uk/html/about_epp.html

Estate agents boards are Polycarbonate twin wall, like used for greehouse glazing. Some of the unbreakable trainers have been built from it.

EPP is the one you can pile into the deck and get away with it.

Depron is the one you can't (as I have just found out-again)

Time to go and cut another one out

Depron can be made much much more crash resistant if you skin it with parcel tape, whic is available in loads of colours from STaples and the like.

Does anyone have any ability in making these things???

If so, does anyone have a nice big depron model they want to sell??

I cant find the time to build one, and i have very fat fingers, so end up cuttingout the most basic thing imaginable, which i am fed up with

I've had half a dozen of these in depron, absolutely nothing wrong with depron as long as you give some protection to the L.E.'s ( I use very thin carbon strip simply sellotaped over)

My current one has seen best part of a years use as a dog fighter, brilliant stuff depron is smile

B&Q used to sell it, though haven't seen any in my local one for some time. I'd suggest looking for somewhere local as it's not really postable in the sheet sizes you'll need. You can get them in reasonable size sheets from www.foamyjets.co.uk but a bit small for my liking.
