Slightly photo heavy......

Thought I'd post a 'Work in progress' thread detailing the building of my 1:12 Nicky Hayden '06 bike....

All paints are from hiroboy (a bespoke set of paints matched to the bodywork for authenticity including white, black, orange, flouro orange and pearl pink).....the amazing metallic blue is created by spraying a black groundcoat with a pearlescent pink over the top...it really comes alive once the clear coat is sprayed on.....I have final clear coats (which are a 2 part laquer) to do still.....just waiting for some micro-sol to arrive so I can fix my carbon fibre detailing on awkward parts......anyway, hope you like....
Most parts sprayed and decals fixed...

Fairing....no clearcoat applied yet.....and screen to go on after......the hair on the #69 is now gone!

Tail section.....not a great photo as is doesn't do the carbon fibre on top justice....

Side panels.....still in need of a final clearcoat....

Tank......almost finished.....final details like the filler to do....

Belly pan.....showing a little of how nice the paint is....

Exhausts......how many coats?!!!?!!?!! Primer.....gloss black.....Alcad chrome.....then heat staining with alclad violet, blue, red and sepia!!....rather time consuming!!!

I'll post more as I build......hope you enjoy....

Lovely stuff. Is there a site where you can purchase kits with recommended hiroboy colours?

yes

The site does a wealth of kits, tools, paints and liveries. One of my next projects is the Marco Melandri "Spiderman" bike from Estoril 2004...

The site is www.hiroboy.co.uk and the paints are made by "zero". www.zero-paints.co.uk.

They come pre thinned and are of exceptional quality IMO.

yes

For my next bike i may go for some of these extra detailing kits....trouble is I don't know if I can justify paying that much extra to make it look slightly better.....I do have some of the extra stuff such as carbon fibre and connectors etc.

I'm adding welds to my next project also. Really easy. Just a thin roll of epoxy putty, manipulate the shape into it with the head of a nail and chrome silver over the top thumbup

Very cool.

I've got half a dozen of the bloody things here, still in the boxes, unopened.

I'll get to em one day.
Well if you want to get rid of any of them.........
