450 or 500 size heli - DX6i or DX7?

I'm looking at building my first proper heli and I'm quite keen on the Align T-Rex range. I know they're rather expensive compared to some of the others out there, so I would be willing to look at another brand if the quality and flying dynamics are as good.

I'm torn between the 450 v2 and the 500. I know I should buy 'the best heli I can afford to crash', but the build cost isn't that different between the two sizes. I guess the biggest difference will be blade replacement and initial LiPo investment.

Will I fly the 450 more? I'm guessing I'll be able to play about with it in a regular sized garden, whereas the 500 will require more room to do simple circuits etc, but will I get more long term enjoyment out of the larger heli?

Another area I can't decide is the TX. I think if I go for the 450 I'll get the DX6i radio and for the 500 the DX7 in case I decide to get a scale body with retractable landing gear etc, but would the DX7 be a better choice with the 450? Would the extra channel ever get used? Lighting? Camera? Helicommand?

Just thought I'd be able to get a more balanced opinion here than in some of the rather biased heli forums!
