Hello all,

I'm looking to build a decent slot car from and old Scalextric Rover SD1. I've bought motors from stands a toy fairs before, can anyone suggest a good on-line retailer?

I'd also be interested to hear thoughts on which motor to go for as well as tyres. In a nutshell I'm hoping to hand out a large scale beating to mate who's got some nice cars and a decent track.

Cheers smile

Regarding motors go for an NSR Shark 20k or 22.4k or a Slot.it 21500. What type of track are you racing on, plastic or wood and I'll let you know what tyres to go for.

From either place I mentioned above ask for a pair of Slot.it P6 tyres. While your at it get the axle and gears.

Thanks, is that the same compound front to rear?

No for the front get the 'Z0' Compound (zero grip) or just use clear nail varnish - it does the same job.

Great advice - if you get hooked on the go faster stuff there is a slot car club with a 155 foot four lane wooden circuit at Dowtys in Staverton near you in Cheltenham. Or drop in and see my club (plastic and other tracks) if you are passing the Swindon/Wiltshire area.

For details see "where to race" at The British Slot Car Racing Association

Have fun with your SD1!

LDDiscounts are well priced and give a very prompt service. Have used them a number of times now.
