anyone know where i'd get a new set of wheels from ? the rears are hex fittments but the fronts are'nt ? strange but true......
It is RWD so only the rear wheels need to be driven, the front wheels have the bearings (or plastic bushings) fitted into them so they free wheel on the front hub.Not sure if Kyosho still make the original wheels and tyres for them. its a possibility.
You might struggle to get the parts for the car. Several times I have looked at getting one of these over the years but the ugly bodyshell puts me off and that's all I want it for. I just wish Tamiya would have done an RS500 as their shells are massively better. AFAIK, the only other 3dr Cosworth shell was made by Frewer and it was no better. The reason is that the car is built on a buggy chassis (short and wide) and thus the proportions are all wrong. Sadly, it's not even a good chassis (basically a Raider with road wheels and tyres).
Kyosho's 1/8th Porsche 959 looks superb and shows they can do it right, so why they ever released this abortion is beyond me. Sad, as I am a massive RS500 fan and have numerous other (non r/c models) and furthermore, as a racer in the Swiss Indoor r/c Touring Car Championship I'd love a nice RS500 shell...!
ood luck with fixing it up - stuff like bearings will be fairly easy to get off eBay.

after looking at hundreds of on-line shops and trying to find parts with no luck , i'm on to plan B. i've started to measure up a manta-ray chassis and it'll fit the rs500 shell fine , so i'll just need to make the mounting points for the shell now lol... plus it'll be 4wd and i'll have a choice of wheels now.
i need to replace a wishbone on the manta-ray first then i'll get it swaped over ......

I've had one of those sitting on the top shelf in my garage for the last god knows how many years. I think it is just a rolling chassis now. i also had a Calibra DTM shell for it. that was my first serious RC car!
is it for sale ? i've been busy collecting these rs500's , got 2 now and some spares lol.....
