I've been looking for a battery pack for my Tamiya M-02L based model I'm building for Christmas, and Google is not turning up the results. I wonder if you guys with well-trodden RC shopping links can help.

I need a Tamiya RC1700SP Racing Pack, Ni-Cd 7.2V-1700mAh and charger.

I'd like to source the official Tamiya part, preferably to ship before Christmas so UK supplier.

Cheers!

I think those 1700 cells will be expensive and difficult to get hold of.

Why not just use another battery pack?

Something like this should be ok

This is a cheap charger

If you want a faster charger then the cheapest option will be a 12v peak charger, or a more expenisve mains peak charger.

Im not sure where you would get the tamia battery.

Those 1700s have been eclipsed by newer, higher capacity batteries.
Here's a list of what's available.

Personally, for a runabaout like an M02, I'd just get a decent 3000MAh pack and a quick charger.

Thanks guys, very much appreciated.

I took your advice and sourced an Ansmann 7.2v 3000MAh battery and POWERJACK 6 / ACX2 DELTA PRO PEAK 7.2v CHARGER.

Used goldstarstockists.com - Time Tunnel Models.

Hopefully they will get to me before Christmas!

Thanks again!

Why are people still buying cells? LiPo is the most affordable solution for RC cars these days, it won't be long now when cell manufacturers will pack up and then we can all enjoy the huge benefits that LiPo offer us all.

You don't have to go brushless with LiPo, however, brushed motors also have a short life too as brushless takes control of our hobby - good news for all, apart from those who sell brushed motors and all that expensive aftercare equipment you need smile

Hardly worth the extra cost if you're not racing though is it? I get plenty of runtime with my Mini using a budget 3000 mAh stick pack.

Really? depends if your racing, bashing, where you race, what championship you are doing etc...

Balance chargers are cheap but still an extra thats needed. Also not forgetting you still cant run LiPo in a lot of series events, and only certain hard case packs are allowed in others. Although the rules are changing all the time on this.

LiPo packs can be dangerous things if mishandled and can soon burn your house down if they explode...
