I have posted this elsewhere in error, but i am currently studying motorsport and powertrain engineering at university and we have been given our first project. To design and build a radio controlled car from scratch. The radio, engine and exhaust may be sourced from outside.

My plea here is does anybody have an old .15 nitro engine that they no longer need and are willing to let go, or know somebody/on good terms with a store that could help us out.

Many thanks, i'll keep you updated on the project.

speak to the distributors, try CML Distribution, HPI or Ripmax be your best bet rather than a shop. send them a letter/email outlining your task and promise pics and a write-up at the end that they can use in their newsletters to the trade and websites/trade mag coverage and i think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I'll keep an eye on anything that may come in the shop. We have a knackered Tamiya engine but it needs a new piston/liner that i dont think we can source at the moment.

Thanks guys for all your help. I'll post the write up on here as well as pictures when it's finished in December.

I have got an old .40 you could have?

May make it rather quicker than you had hoped for though.

Thank you very much for the offer! Unfortunately we have been set a specific engine size of 2.5cc (.15).
Much appreciated.

I've got an old Irvine 0.15; no idea if it would work or hasn't seized (not been used in prob 10+ years) which you'd be welcome to. You might need to fashion a backplate (or whatever it's called) for it as it used to be mounted at 45 deg so the mount replaced the backplate. I'll have a dig in the loft later. smile

Found it, seems in good nick with decent compression. Also found a backplate and an exhaust. I'll drop you some pics if you PM me your email.

Cheers,
