Im thinking about collecting road car models such as Ferrari and Lambourghini and I wanted to know what the view is on this company. I already have an Enzo model and as far as I can tell it looks pretty good, are there any other compaines I should be aware of that are of better quailty and similar price? I don't want to start collecting only to find out later on that there are better products out worth my green.

I guess the first thing to consider is what scale of models you're wanting to collect, which will then suggest suitable manufacturers.

I would suggest investigating AUTOart, Kyosho, Minichamps, Exoto and even Revell. There are some extremely good 1:18th models around now.

However, saying that, I've just done some work on a Jadi Elise and the paint finish was possibly the worst I have ever experienced.

Hot Wheels stuff seems to have gone off the boil off late, according to Model Collector reviews.

I haven't bought any of their stuff for a number of years, so can't give an honest opinion myself.

Look about, there are plenty others out there.

cheers

+1.

The Hotwheels models I have are nowhere near the quality of the three above.

Maybe but there not as expensive. All of the above are quite expensive and they dont have the wide range of hot wheels, looks like I'm sticking with Mattel.

From what I've seen there isn't much in it in terms of price. I have a Hot Wheels Elite 1/18 scale 599 RRP circa £50 and the quality is poor next to an Autoart, Kyosho or Minichamps of the same price (or within a fiver typically).

Check ebay.

The thing to remember is that these are big models, so if it looks slightly naff, it'll be quite obviously naff. As Ferris says, it really is worth hunting down the bargains and paying a few quid extra on the AUTOarts etc.
