Following on from the parkzone mustang thread.

Decided to get back in to flying, I got bought one of those little 2 engined beginner jobs that sell for about £30 a couple of christmas ago, I used to fly (or rather crash) a big precedent glider and would like to get in to proper powered flight.

I know if I got one of those mustangs (or more likely the fw-190) then I will crash it which would upset me, so I'd sooner buy a trainer and get used to flying properly first.

Choice of 2 really, I want to spend under £100.

They both have benefits, one has anti crash technology (which would be seriously handy) but it is only 3ch and I know is going to be pretty limited pretty quickly.

The other one is 4ch which would be better long term, and it does come with a simulator type thing which would be handy.

Thoughts?

4 chan, hopefully with enough practice on the Sim you won't need to use the anti crash tech? biggrin

The Hobbyzone supercub is supposed to be the one to go for as it is well tried and tested for beginers, however the 3ch will get boring pretty quick so the 4 channel would be my choice to teach you aerelon control. But check up on the model, you can usually find reviews on most things here http://www.rcgroups.com

I learnt the hardway on a PZ Spitfire and now have a hawker hurricane and now an EDF Vampire which are great fun.

Get stuck in, its a great hobby.

Cheers

Guy.

I've just bought a Hobbyzone Super Cub from the local model shop. A friend and I bought a couple of 4 channel planes off eBay (Skyartec Cessna 182), but these were way to advanced for complete beginners, as you can see from the clips below! 11s of flying until destroyed is not much fun! So we've decided to repair these and 'downgrade' to the Super Cub and start that. All we need now is some calm weather!

I know - sent them to YBF in the vain hope we'll get £250 back to pay for the damage!

It was the ever lower high speed loops that set me off!

I started with a 3 channel minium for about 60 quid and its virtually impossible to crash. Then moved onto a thing called a nemo from als hobbies which is 4 channel and made from epp foam.  Its had a right bashing, but still carries on with a bit of tape.It comes with all the radio (4 channel) and a sim too.At 68 quid its money well spent i think. Now making a ducted fan thing- second one ini fact, the first "landed" at about 5000 mh and smeared itself into about 8 million bits.

The Super Cub is going well - managed 3 flights today the weather was so calm. Getting the hang of it well and sis a double loop today and landed on the track outside my house which took some doing - but better than plonking in the long grass.

The Drop Zone module is fun - dropped the parachute man from about 200ft today - thought I'd lost him!

Ordered a FlyCamOnev2 today, so hope to get some aerial footage during the week, if the weather holds.
