That is incredible!! There is no way I would be driving it around though, imagine crashing it.
I'd guess it was insured.Question to those far more knowlegable than I on the subject of scratch builds - how many hours of labour would you guess that it might have taken him, roughly, give or take a few erm... years?
From memory the miata came out around 1991, ish?
Amazing work!

I reckon I take 8 - 10 hours to build up a 1:43 scale kit to a basic show worthy standard. A lot of the work he's put into that (and this is not meant in a derogatory fashion at all) is basic plasticard work that is generic across his projects (such as the boxing in of the chassis, so obviously he will be quite quick in those areas. Where he raises the bar is in the detail work, such as the Mini engine compartment. Top top attention to detail. I would say (and hope, otherwise he's really really annoying!) he has well over 50 hours in each of those at the very very least, and more than likely closer to 100 (based on what I think it would take me).
Take a look at one of his other threads for a Scale Toyota 4-AGE. Absolutely phenomenal.
Calling time taken is very much down to the individual - he's obviously extremely talented, he could also be extremely quick! Mate of mine can build up scale aircraft from scratch in the same time it would take me to put together an air-fix kit to poor standard, so could be 20 hours work, could be 200.
