Right I've been doing a bit of soul searching, and need to decide which way to go in my hunt for the next toy, I can't bring myself to start using the meteor again as I know it will end up getting damaged, and I can't find shells for love nor money. And the hybrid I've built is a bit boring unless I go the silly modified route.

I can't realistically see me taking racing up seriously, while I'd love to just turn up and race they all take it so seriously I just don't think I'd really be welcome, and to even stand a chance of ranking in a race you need to spend daft money, and the car will be too delicate to have fun with. So scrub that idea.

I want something I can take down on to the beach, carparks, adventure playgrounds, just generally a fun car, looked at all sorts from these tiny little brushless and nitro cars (1:18??) I don't know how quick they are, right up to the 1:6 FG marders. Ultimate speed isn't really that important, I had a schumacher fusion which was insane, and radio controlled car that is quicker than some full size cars cannot be a good idea! It was fun though. What's important is firstly nothing too delicate, I don't want to jump a car and have wishbones or shock towers break, I don't want to be having to buy hop ups, I don't care if it is electric, petrol or nitro. But at the same time it mustn't be really slow, I had a tamiya Blackfoot that I took as part ex and it was rubbish it crawled along, and didn't even have the guts to go off road.

1 word..........FUN!

Suggestions?

What about something along the lines of the HPI MT2 Stadium Truck? Can be run over pretty much everything.

I was in the same boat as you. I have a Electric and Nitro touring car, no one local races the Nitro and the electric groups are not really welcoming for new drivers so i had a browse on Ebay and picked up a 1:8 Duratrax Axis buggey.

Can take it over the fields and hti jumps etc! You should definatly look along the lines of a Buggey/Stadium truck. There built to run over gravel, grass etc Or get a HPI Savage and run through mud and go off 20ft drops!

I had a HPI rush evo for a few weeks (another cheapie bought in to make profit) and wasn't impressed to be honest. The pull start was poor quality, the top links used to jump off, the whole package felt cheap and not very solid, I sold it before it broke anything expensive. Is the savage the big truck? I'm not really in to big trucks, thinking more along the buggy side of things really, a stadium truck is ok, but I do prefer buggies.

hello there

Ive had a few Nitro cars and I wanted a cheap run about... knock about truck. I mangaged to get a thunder tiger ssk V1 off the internet for 129 pounds. Its a nitro buggie (4x4) PRO 15 motor with whishbone accessories and I think its 1/10 scale. its a awsome truck and Ive thrashed it many atimes at the park, track etc. . it comes already assembeled and just nitro and a glow starter is needed. Parts are readily available on ebay and its thunder tiger so its excellent quality and You might find a decent second hand one. I pursonally would not buy one from a store as Ive seen them retail for over 200 pounds and I managed to get mine off a online dealer. If I can find his name and site I will let you know. There is also a V2 option but Ive heard that the V1 is better but I suppose thats upto you.

if you go onto You tube and type in . thunder tiger ssk v1 you should see this awsome truck in action.

cheers

Trouble is your looking at such a wide range of models its difficult to recommend any.
I currently have a 1/5th Protech Gator (FG Leopard/Marder copy) and a Hyper 7 pro 1/8th rallycross buggy. The Hyper is by far the easiest to drive but as its nitro needs constant fettling, and with the 8 port motor is bloody quick! The Gator is a huge lump and not best driven in confined areas or where there are lots of people walking dogs and playing with kids etc. But its so easy to maintain and can run nearly an hour on a tank of petrol and 2 stroke, which makes it cheaper than nitro fuel even at todays pump prices!

Had a HPI Savage for a bit but with a Truckzilla conversion (big wheels and big .46 engine), due to its size i couldnt get on with it, kept rolling it and damaging the thing. Fitted bigger brakes to it and ended up snapping driveshafts or doing endo's when i try to stop it, sold it in the end.

Looking at getting a 1/18 truck one day just for laughs in the garden as the others are too big.

If its an electric 2wd buggy Id recommend the Associated RC10 B4 RS RTR. This is the cheaper version of the factory team RC10B4 kit, comes with most of hte bits youd need.

If its 4wd, maybe the tamiya durga, very cheap but a good piece of kit

I'd vote for these too, both are easily capable of racing at club should you change your mind.

Did you decide on anything? If not I have an almost new Hotbodies lightning pro truggy for sale with a mach 28 engine and quite a few hop ups on it if your interested. Very solid truggy, ally wishbones etc ideal for either just using for fun or racing. The engine has only been run rich so has had an easy life. All radio gear included and ready to go.
Good price too.

It all depends on how much you want to spend and what you personally like the look of.

For a small off road nitro you are looking at something like the HPI Firestorm or Hyper 7 buggy.
Electric wise you have several Tamiya options or go the whole hog with a racing Losi.
Dont be fooled into thinking electric is cheaper than nitro (just look as the price of some of the brushless setups people suggest to you). A nitro engine can be rebuilt, an ESC can't lol

Give us some more details, it will help narrow down our suggestions.
