I'm keen to get one of these and have found the HPI Savage 4.6 which seems suitable and looks great from Youtube.
There seem like many different variants and looking at reviews, options like reverse gear sound useful and the electric starter seems to be better than having to pull start.
Has anyone got one of tehse and can comment on it or what particular model I should consider?

You could add reverse later if you really wanted it. I don't have it and it's never really bothered me, a mate has it on his 4.6.
I have the rotostart which is kinda good, but tbh it's a pain carrying the rotostart round with you. I upgraded to an STS .28 engine which has a notoriously weak pull start mechanism so I'm stuck with rotostart. My mate with the 4.6 has a pull start so only needs to carry the glow starter in his pocket when out and about. Roto start is handy but you'll need to remember to charge batteries for it, and have the hassle of carrying it around for when the engine stalls.

Dont bother with reverse, it is ore trouble than its worth (an extra servo involved)
The Savage RTR and Losi are both very good trucks. But as in all nitro cars/buggies/trucks if you want the best experience, take the time to find out how htey work and go together so you can check things work properly yourself.
If you are mechanically minded and like to fiddle go for a Savage or Revo or MGT (Google them). But take your time to check screws are screwed and things are lined up (ie. clutch bell and spur gear, again doa bit of googling).
If you want a plug in and go, with no maintenance or tuning, steer clear of nitro. Another option in the nitro world you might want to look at is a buggy (alot easier to work on). A popular and cheap option are the HoBao buggies like the Hyper 7 and 8. Parts are very cheap (you WILL break parts) and they are not so expensive to buy from the outset (while you work out if you really want to get into nitro).

People will tell you electric is faster (especially with brushless motors these days) but you can beat the sound and smell of a well set up nitro vehicle. And if you really are after pure speed then you can wave goodbye to your credit card lol

Traxxas T Maxx, easy start system, just plug it in and it goes, reverse gear standard, 3.3 model is very quick, and IMO better built and more upgrades available than a Savage, it is also a lot easier to work on, as the T maxx has a flat chassis which everything is bolted too, the Savage has a twin vertical chassis that reqiures one side removing to get any components out.
I have several friends that have gone from T maxx to Savage, and have gone back to the T Maxx.
