Model sourcing - any tips?
Discussion
Hi all.
This may seem a slightly cheeky post, but I have seen some of you respond to this kind of thing before and some of you guys are seriously knowledgeable.
I have a photographic record of all the cars I have owned so far, but would love to start collecting them as models as well.
I have a couple of Bburago 1:18th scale things, but when I read this forum I get the impression I will be impressed by the quality of the things you guys suggest. I have followed a few links and searched for a long time on the sites I find, but I have found that because the cars I have owner are fairly normal, I cannot find them as models in any scale.
I would prefer 1:18th, but in reality if I could create a complete 'garage' I would not mind mixing and matching scale.
Where is best to look to see if models of the cars I have owned have ever existed? I am happy to do the research, I just don't know where to start. For the record, I think the wife would prefer as good a quality as possible for the models as I am intending to display them and apparently the house is 'her domain'.
All tips welcome!
Cheers all.
P~
PS the list is below - you will know at a glance if I am kidding myself thinking I can find these things.
1973 VW Beetle 1303S black
1986 Mini City E denim blue
1986 Mini City E silver
1989 Ford Fiesta XR2i Gunmetal
1996 Vauxhall Corsa Premier Silver (standard is an easier find I suspect)
1999 Fiat Punto white
1999 Ford Focus Zetec 3-door silver
2000 VW Polo E 3-door Blue
2002 Ford Focus Ghia 5-door blue
2003 Fiat Punto silver
2005 Ford Mondeo ST TDCi saloon gunmetal
2005 Mazda RX-8 230 sunlight silver
2006 VW Golf SE 5-door silver
2006 VW Golf GTI 5-door black
2007 Land Rover Freelander SE silver
These all seem too normal to be in model form. Am I deluded?

Easiest place, eBay (in the diecast & vehicles section of Toys & Games). Second easiest place, Google (check for the brands shown in previous posts here)..
You may be unlucky in terms of colours available, but that's not insurmountable.
Lots of 'normal' cars are produced as models by the likes of Autoart etc so your search shouldn't be too hard.

Wow, thanks mate - I really appreciate that list. I owe you a drink.
The intention is to start having a snout around this weekend (work is manic, so good ideas always have to wait!) so that could not have come at a better time!
Cheers all - yet again!

Edited to answer a few questions :
1999 Fiat Punto white - Mk2? Majorette - Mk1 I believe. The one that was arouond from the mid-nineties. I cannot remember any version before that, yet it might be mk2!
2000 VW Polo E 3-door Blue - 6n2 with all red rear lights? None, cant find one for my own collection - yep, that's the one. Bought it because we needed the extra car at the time. A really nice looking little car it was as well!
2003 Fiat Punto silver - Mk2 F/l? None as far as Im aware - Now this is what I would class as Mk2. Fiat actually made about 3 different 'looks' of the Punto in quite a short space of time. This one has a sloped rear with the front inverted 'V' in the bumper. Nice looking small car.
2007 Land Rover Freelander SE silver - None as far as Im aware - At the dealers I noticed that LR themselves actually do models of their vehicles. Looks like they don't do the FR2 yet, but since all others were there, the day may come. I will keep an eye.
Cheers again!
