Anyone on here tried RC Rock Crawling?
Discussion
Ive got a customised tamiya juggernaut that was set up for crawling when I bought it, with a reduction gearbox, fixed diffs etc, it was great fun trying to get it over anything and everything, decided to see how fast I can make it tho, now had twin motors and twin batterys, no doubt ill switch back to a crawling setupa t some point! great fun1
Tamiya have announced recently that they will be building an all-new rock-crawler chassis (CR-01). First model to use it will have a Toyota FJ shell. Looks like a great starting point.

The magazine review is very positive regarding the AX10 Scorpion.
They tested it in conjunction with the Novak Goat system (£199 on it's own), the kit and power package came as a deal from CML at £369.
The Novak Goat is highly recommended.
If the price is too steep, they recommend the Scorpion, Noak Rooster and 55 turn brushed motor for around £265 package - which is good as the truck is around £200.
This issue of Max Bashing is a Rock Crawling Special, so I suggest if you are interested seek it out in Halfords.
They also test the HPI Wheely King 4x4 and cover some aspects of turning this into a Crawler.
I must say, I prefer the look of the HPI. It gave the Scorpion a real run for it's money (once modified).
Since the Wheely King is only £135 fully RTR, I'm tempted to get both with the Wheely King being the "Project" vehicle.
The magazine points the reader to various place for more details on how to convert the Wheely King, HPI itself, RCCrawler.com and the UK site UKRCRC.com
The two RC Crawler sites are fascinating, and could easily waste your entire day! You have been warned
