Put one on order from Hannants yesterday morning, then at modelzone last night they had 3 left.

It is very impressive, with the mouldings looking a lot better than previous Airfix offerings.
There are many decal options including the MR1 (White/Grey camouflage), MR2 Hemp with high & low viz markings and the new grey c/s. They also include decals for the Electronic Intelligence R1.
Another interesting option is the MR2P with sidewinders from the Falklands war!!
In addition to that is a full compliment of weapons and packs for the weapons bay.
It is a very comprehensive kit and well worth the £38.99.
I can see these selling out very quickly!!
Could be worth a few quid on ebay in 6 months to a years time!!

I bought one on line, wasn't sure whether it would come through as it didn't confirm if they were in stock, so I bought one in Modelzone last night incase the other one doesn't come through.
I'm going to keep both, I will make one, and probably keep the other one boxed.
Didn't buy any TSR2's. Just finishing a 1:72 scale Xtrakit Canberra PR9.

I've held off an splashing out on the Xtrakit Canberra PR9.
I have an old Frog/Novo B(I)8 to do and I hear that Airfix will be bringing out a 1/72 B(I)8 this year too.
I just wish someone would bring out a reasonable 1/72/B2 or B6 sometime. Airfix's 1970s B6 had the wrong nose shape (and the moulds were then re-jigged into a Martin B-57).

Supraman, what are the decals like? It seems that is the main complaint - a number of people saying they look "pixelated".
Still trying to make my mind up on this one, wouldn't mind having it but I don't think I'm £40 interested, saying that it's going to be hard to keep my money in my wallet when the 1:24th mossie is released!

Decals look o.k to me.
You could say they are a bit pixellated if you look very closely, but then again you would have to be so close as to looking at each decal individually to notice.
The size of the decals on a kit that large you are hardly going to notice it, unless you are an anorak looking for each individual stencil & marking.
I expect there will be some further markings coming out by other aftermerket decal manufacturers. Saying that, some of those can be a bit iffy aswell.
It is all down to how intricate & picky you want to get.

I was aware of the Model Alliance decals - some interesting options to be fair and I wouldn't let the quality of decals sway me either way, was just wondering how you ranked yours. As I say that seems to be the only complaint which for a new Airfix release is very good, although I'm not a rivet counter as long as it looks like what it's supposed to be I'm happy.

I am going to build one, not sure which scheme to go for. Would like to do the hemp, but will be a lot more work/masking that the all over grey scheme.
But saying that I would like to try the decals from Model Alliance on the CXX or 42 sqn specials.
I haven't got an airbrush or any other kit like that so it will have to be handpainted. It is quite a bit kit to handpaint!!

I'd say the Canberra is pretty damn fine. My only crit is the aerial wire. It's always a pig to try and get it taut enough without pulling bits off the model. Friend in USA has recently purchased some stretchy cord stuff just for this sort of job. I'll find a name and revert.

Aerial wires can be done in a number of ways. I met a chap at my local model club who was using surgical suture thread. It's so effective it's almost invisible. It is therefore very realistic. He gets his supply from his brother, who happens to be a vet.
I use (if I bother to portray aerial wire at all) stretched sprue.

News from Texas is that the product is called EZ Line. It looks fantastic and the link to the shop in Florida is below. Stuff is cheap and comes in a variety of thicknesses.Hope it helps.

That is now very common amongst decal manufacturers. On older decal sheets (especially the mass produced decals that come with kits) the red centre was always printed inside the blue circle - but not always accurately.
Printing them separately allows the modeller to place them accurately when completing the model and avoids those annoying "register" isssues.

Wouldn't the finest fishing line do the trick, say 1 lb breaking strain stuff, would be stretchy too.Aerial wires can be done in a number of ways.
