One day last summer, I was down at my old local park flying one of my model helicopters. All was well as I tore the place up with some FFF, loops, stall turns etc when I heard the revs increase slightly and the exhaust stopped smoking. I immediately flew it back over towards me but before I got it back, the heli went very quiet very quickly - the motor had stopped dead.

Fortunately, despite having all of ten feet in height and fling nose-in towards me, I managed to autorotate it safely. More luck than judgement I think, but perhaps it was the hours on the sim that were coming into play...?

The cause of the stoppage was a fracture in a fuel line that had let air in. This had leaned off the mixture and siezed the engine.

Anyways, I finally took the motor out today and this is what I found...:

Whoops...

I assume this swarf wasn't supposed to fall out of the engine...?

Trusty old TT 39 Pro reduced to scrap metal frown

Replaced with a shiny new OS Max 37 SZ-H

Let's hope this one is OK...! (Yes, I have replaced all the fuel lines...!!!)

No, much more modern I'd afraid. Heli is a Thunder Tiger Raptor 30 v2. Engine is (was) the Thunder Tiger Pro 39H now replaced with an OS Max 37 SZ-H.
