I'd say the Pico Z too, I got one as a present yesterday. Don't expect too much though, none of them are very complicated. They just go up and down and rotate. In theory rotating one way makes them drift forwards and the other way backwards but in reality they tend to go where they want (Normally into something solid!wink). If you want more foward motion you can put a weight (Blu tack or simular) on the nose. Still good fun though.

No!nonohehe

Actually a five year old would break it in about 10 seconds, they are pretty fragile.

The Picco is only two channel. That's ok if all you are interested in is going up and down and left and right. You'll need a Three channel model. I'd avoid the "Mosquito" one though, it's thought to be a bit on the delicate side.

have to say i got one as well and there not overly controlable and the way you use the "throttle" has to be changed with how much battery is left in it and that wont be much at any time

quite fun as a gimick thing though althoug would of prefered one woth more comtrol

havent broken it yet either although it did have to be cut out of some ones hair

how much blue tack did u put on the front?

I got a Picoo Z from the MIL. (Well I bought it for myself and she gave it to me for Christmas with a bottle of SoCo biggrin). I agree with the comments above but it's a bit of cheap fun. The guy in HOF in the Meadowhall told me they sold 600 of them on one Saturday at the end of Nov. yikes

I also got a Picoo and enjoyed it so much I have gone out and bought a Eflite Blade CX2 today for £130.

It includes everything bar spares and I must say is fantastic so far.

I can hover it quite easily as it is a fixed pitch job, but is still complex enough to hold my interest for quite some time.... once that is finished I have a ic one in the garage that I never finished building.

What is the cheapest variable pitch copter then ? Is it best to learn fixed pitch ?

The Pizo helicopters are a bit of fun, but soon become very frustrating due to their lack of controllability. I moved on to a Twister Medevac which is a full 4 function helicopter. It's a bit more difficult to master, but much more rewarding when you do. It's small enough to be flown indoors, but can also be flown outside (when there is absolutely zero wind). Spares are readily available, and it comes with everything you need to get you airborne.

It's quite a bit more expensive than the Pizo, but is in a completely different league than it's smaller brother.

Have a look here for more information. http://www.modelflight.com.au/rc_model_helicopters...

Not sure what they sell for these days, but if you shop around you can probably get one for under a ton.

p.s. sorry the link is to an Australian site, but it has the best description and video I could find after a short search. Further searches should be able to find you a load of UK suppliers if you are interested.

They are a bit of fun, I bought a couple of Picoo Z as gifts for christmas.

And when you get bored with flying alone, you can get the infrared ones and fight each other

Have to say that we in the office (8 of us) have gone mad with these little helicopters. We have, between us, purchase around 20 of them in the last 4 months. Small ones and now big ones. I have a 4ch Apache now and it's bloody good fun. Scares the living daylights out of me when I fly it. So used to racing cars with a 2ch set, still finding the 4ch troublesome.

Who thinks these are for kids?!! Get real these are fab toys smile
