Why did the B-52 crash? wind?

Looks like the same weakness as the real thing...

Too tight a turn and it falls out of the sky....

There's a video somewhere of one doing that at a US airshow rehearsal. The pilot was about to retire, mentally unstable, and got miffed when told to go round again before landing...

Found it...

Too tight a turn, with not enough airspeed, stalls then the pilot becomes a passenger!

Looked to me like it was taking off into a strong headwind. I guess having a big difference between the ground and airspeed makes it quite a lot harder to judge what a smooth turn through the air would look like from the ground. I'd guess he underestimated the degree to which the plane should continue to run down field as he started to turn it back up wind, so he ends up putting it into a very steep bank and then splat.

Hope to hell nothing was under it when it pancaked. Looked bloody dangerous.

Once the B52 exceeds a certain (critical) angle of bank, the nose falls away as the rudder can't hold it up.
The recovery is to nose down, roll level and pull up.
All of that required more sky than he had.
AFAIK.

jets are ace fun, a friend of mine makes them (small jet engines) for a living for model aircraft and target drones so i get chance to go play with them all the time.

awesome ... I want one ... no idea what to do with it ... maybe the first jet strimmer? ... use it to light the barbeque?

If they're knocking out 15-20lbs of thrust, how much do they weigh?

hehe I think I'd be excited too - looked like great fun. I must say, I'd like a turbine scale heli one day...

Roop, turbine helis are amazing, not only do they look good the sound is as close to the real thing as you'll ever get.
