A little birdy tells me that those lovely models by Amalgam, you know the hand built 1:8 scale beauties are now being made in China!!!!

What ever happened to true British craftsmenship?

We preferred to save a few pennies and get extra features. Look at the car industry.

Or on the flip side we were too lazy to do jobs right the consumers looked elsewhere.

It's not about capability (although that will fade the more manufacturing goes overseas). It's about economics.

Exactly, it really is as simple as that; the Chinese can manufacture them at a cheaper rate than a UK based manufacturer can - we want cheap stuff, the down side is that the UK loses jobs in manufacturing, thus meaning they can only afford the cheaper goods - self fulfilling prophecy!

i would'nt mind if it was cheaper but they still hike up the prices
