Reccommended shops for purchasing diecast cars.
Discussion
I know others will disagree with this for some valid reasons but www.grandprixlegends.com
Or www.gtmodels.co.uk
Or www.modelenium.co.uk
Or www.gtmodels.co.uk
Or www.modelenium.co.uk

If you want buy in the UK and online, use these guys.
Don't touch the other two. The first will screw you, the second has no knowledge on model cars, wouldn't trust leaving my credit card details with them either, online or over the phone.
Modelenium are your safest bet.
You might want to check these guys out based in Portugal, free delivery for all UK customers
www.model-car.com
Don't buy from ModelZone as you are just lining the pockets of the three amigos - ModelZone, GPL and Amerang

I've not had a problem with www.gtmodels.co.uk. Care to enlighten me please?
GTmodels are frauds, they rip off other businesses by registering similar domain names to that of the other business.
For example, they have registered www.modelenium.net and www.diecastlegends.net

They stole my web site content, word for word and every product image. I had to threaten them with legal action before they took it alll down. I still have copies of screen shots I took which had my companies name appearing within the text because the pricks hadn't even bothered to read the words they copied!!!!
A magazine that I deal with will not touch them becuase they would not pay up on adverts placed, keep away from them.

Interesting you say that, as I had a debate with the owner on a diecast forum about him using other companies images (including GPL's - which they still use to this day). He was of the opinion that everyone was selling the same product therefore did it matter who used who's images, obviously never heard of copyright laws nor interlectual property laws.
Thanks. The selection at modelenium looks good. Has anybody tried:
www.minimodelcars.co.uk
Personally I've used: www.modelsforsale.com/ for some display cases and the service was very good (i.e. quick).

The trouble with a large number of online stores is that they don't hold everything in stock. Many rely on a quick turn aorund from local distributors. There are very few who actually list only those items theyactually have in stock.
GPL and GTmodels use supplies alot, that's why they say on their sites that before visiting, please call to check the model is in stock, becuase if its not, they run around trying to get it before you arrive!!!.
It's how most operate (even I did it that way!!!) but I feel there needs to be a major overhaul of the way traders in the UK operate, and that must start with the distributors only selling off the shelf in box qtys, but that'll never happen because they enjoy supplying to eBayers and Toy Fair traders who buy to fund their own collections - buy three, keep one for themselves and sell the other two cheap to cover costs.
Trouble is, the wholesalers/distributors are still getting their margins so they couldn;t give a shit. If they all joined forces and only sold in box qtys, I think you'll see a major change in the model diecast market over night, but we can all dream
