I love treating myself to little presents.

Does look a nice model though. I've got an old Hirobo Shuttle RC helicopter. It's the great fun, though I haven't had a chance to fly it for ages.

Why not? My Dad has don e for about 30 years, not to mention all the other planes hanging from us kids' bedroom ceilings too and all the loft and above the stairs.

Just wish he'd start flying them again.

Yeah, I like the scale stuff, but for flying round with my pants on fire I have a Raptor 30 v2. Stock running TT39H apart from V-Blades, QuickUK HT and tuned pipe. Flying the 90 was a doddle compared to this - the 30 really makes you fly smooth to get the best from it - fancy a 90SE at some point, but they chew fuel and have worse power to weight that the Raptor 50. Interested to hear your thoughts on the various sizes...

Sylphides look nice mind...

the 90se dont have a worse power to weight that the Raptor 50. Its the 60 that has

I own 90se you yes they shaw do suck som 30% nitro but it worth the expense for the Big grin factor. and smoothness

I all so have a raptor 50 with a OS 50hyper lump in it now that has some zip but the 90se will still out power it. it just dont feel as snappy because of the smoothness.

with the 90 the feel depends in the blades size they feel quicker on 680 blades rather than 710`s band the 90se needs some lighter paddels and the flybar ratio sorting too get going.

Nice insight - thanks. Given I amstill wringing the neck of the 30, I don't plan to get a 90 until I can afford to have it sat there and not used much. I haven't flown since August now - just not had the time / weather / location / combination of all three.

90SE is a lovely bird, but you're into expensive servos and such for that size of heli. Given I have a decent Tx, I think I'd need £1200 minmum to get into a new 90SE with decent parts - alot of money for something that flies twice a year...!!!

yes I ended up doing 1400 on the 90se. I all ready had a futaba 9ch super and that was a deal and a half at the time with a hefty discount
that was for the90se os90 cpec pumped enging a 401 and digital tail servo kit a young blood MP2, a good RX and 4 good fast digitals
plus i got Him too bung in a set of night blades and a revloc. after alot of friendly arm twisting.

and on top of that various quick uk parts and some more carbons and a lipo and regulator set up
best to get a quick uk auto hub stock locks up
and really a must to get quick uk Tail Blade Grips been some nasty problems with TT ones giving out in flite

I think your find that i will end up a bit more that 1200

Damn, so are you saying to make a reliable 90SE it needs a couple of bags chucking at it...? That's a shame, because the 30, 50 and 60 TT are just about bulletproof out of the box. I was kinda hoping the same for the 90, especially the SE.

Top side of 1k fair enough for a 90, but 2 grand is excessive for me as it's just not gonna get used that much. Perhaps find a straight 2nd hand one that's lost a few quid...

90se is a good heli only issues was with tail a few have poped so most use quick uk parts too be on the safe side and that only 35 quid for peace of mind.
What happen was the original tail grub screws were a bad design a few of the early 90se`s failed then tt replaced them in all kits with a new design.

a few guys doing real hard 3d have had a grip fail and quick uk designed a better unit then improved on that buy adding a a trust berring kit too it as well.

the auto hubs on the 50 and 60 lock up too thats not a major problem but most change em out too save having too keep taking them out and cleaning them. and thats cheap really. it only a pain when your doing autos if its locked.

other than that the90se is totally bullet proof.

30 and 50 do have the odd problem the wash out pins suck big time and are known too come lose and pop out. upgrade washouts use small e clips on the pins and so do the 90se

I had on pop on my 50 myself boy was I lucky too get down in one bit with a mising pin on one side of the washout.

The plastic head block will slop all over the place after a while with som hard 3D best to put metal one in especially for running fast head speeds.
The pin in the tail box often works lose and will grind away inside of the tail box on the 50 and 30
thats easy to fix by putting a bit of shrink wrap tube over it.

It just even with out and upgrades a 90 will end up costing a bit then again im listing price with a top enging and tuned pipe. As I all ways go for the best combination as I dont see the point in getting a 90 and not putting the best pipe and engine in it. thats where most of the cash go`s

if your dont want all the bling may as well go with the standard raptor 90 than the 90se

if you look at prices above the only up grade parts there are the 34 quid tail parts there rest it just how it adds up with some decent servos and the electronics.

the 401 gyro will do the job but most people go an even more expensive gyro all so I dont know if you know ,but most 90`s come with main blades and most pepole want too chose there own blades due to personal preference.

Good choice sir, very good choice

Looking forward to the day the house is finished, so I'll have somewhere to store something very similar! At the moment I have to settle for things that can be stowed more easily - all the heli's and planks are in storage bar 1 foamy (oh, and the Mini Katana airframe waiting at a mates house!)
