I received one of the above in black, 1:18 from my girlfriand for my christmas. Its nearly identical to my own car except the model has a cream colour interior, whereas mine is black. I've since found that i can order a silver 996 with a black interior. My question is how feasible is it to buy the other model and try and swap the interiors over? Has anyone tried anything similair and got any tips or no-go's! Greatly appreciate any help, sc.

Its a pretty easy thing to do and would take you no more than 30 mins tops.

Changing the interior should not pose too much of a problem. Most diecast models have an integral chassis onto which the running gear and internals are attached before the main body is fixed in place with screws. Without looking at the model in front of me I can't say how easy it is.

I'm working on a long-term project of converting an old Chrono Lotus Elise which was released in Yellow, into a GunMetal Silver version which I used to have. This required me to dismantle the entire model which was quite a task! The interior came out without any hassle but removing all the plastic exterior parts such as lights, indicators etc has been more of a pain.

Now slowly stripping back all the paint work on the cast body work before I begin the slow process of respraying and painting up the interior and engine parts to match my exact car, I might post some 'in progress' pics later...

You could always respray the cream interior parts of the model you have, to save buying another one, just a thought

my first plan was to paint the inside but when i had a closer look theres quite a bit of fuzzy stuff! Theres carpets all through it and on the door cards. The door card are the only bits i'm worried about as there doesn't seem to be any removable fixings so might just be a case of gently tryin to pry them off.

Shouldn't be too hard at all mate. As long as you can tell a spanner from a screwdriver you'll be ok. silly

But seriously you'll be ok, just remember if it doesn't come off easily then don't force it otherwise you'll be looking for the special plastic's glue
