Having spent many years now in the industry, there is an opening I feel for a brand to come along and focus on producing a range of quality resin models at 1:18 scale that have the design and build quality of Amalgam Models, but more at the Exoto, CMC value - bewteen £100-200 each.

These super cars such as the Zonda deserve a better model than the one above. The fit and finish is terrible, I think this was done by either Solido or Bburago which speaks for itself...

Why do these car marques say yes to these poor quality examples?

I really don't know why to be honest and as i've mentioned on another thread...if i had my way i'd happyly pay the £50+ for AUTOArt modles alone all the time but as you've mentioned above, why o why do some manufactures say yes to the likes of Bburago and Solido is beyond me. Especially when the marque (whoever it may be) deserves a better reproduction than whats offered.

Look at the crisp lines of this resin model.

The DBR9 by Amalgam Mdodels at 1:8 which can be purchased directly from them at: www.amalgamcollection.com

Resin models have a much higher degree of accuracy over metal diecast models. I've also mentioned before now that I prefer closed models as the lines around doors is so much cleaner. What I was trying to get at was I'd love to see this quality of finish and accuracy being done at 1:18 scale.

OK, you may like your Zonda model, but for me it's not well made. Look at the shot of the rear, the metal body cast is not even stright above the exhaust outlets, poor workmanship, but then it didn't cost much

Yes AUTOart are good, and Exoto/CMC are stunning, but they are also fragile. A resin moulded model with closed doors etc is far more robust and if you ever see them up close you'll understand why I'm coming around to the benefits of resin over metal...

I have the exact same Sagaris and red Zonda model too, got them for my birthday back in August To be honest, I was quite disappointed with the Zonda, especially compared to my new DBR9 model (made by AutoArt, I've been waiting almost 2 years for it!) and an F40 model which was about £50 but which is SO highly detailed - it even has furry stuff on the seats and the fit and finish is far far above the Zonda model.

I'll try and get pictures later...

You can't build them yourself. They come complete as shown on the display case. They are mainly aimed at the collector with money to burn, or corporates who are looking for something to dress their reception or board room with.

I once sold one to a design firm who have done work for Bentley, (they purchaed the 1:8 scale Bentley they once made). They really are impressive models, and the detail is unsurpassed.

If I had pots of money I know what models I would collect...

I got this 1:18 GT for my other half, which he was really pleased with. It's made by a company called Motor Max. The quality isn't as good as the Autoart GTR that he has, but it's the only company that makes the GT in 1:18. Also it was only a tenner, so can't complain really.

Still waiting for the 1:1 version to come back from the factory.

i like that Diablo GT model
i've got 2 1:18 motormax models, the red Zonda and a yellow Saleeen S7, they aren't the best built models and my Saleen was virtually impossible to remove from its stand (i've given up trying with the Zonda) but for the cars they do and the price they are, they are pretty hard to ignore.
