Hi all,

Recently signed up and spotted this forum, so thought I'd share my HPI Savage with you.

It was a Savage 25 but has had a few upgrades, main one is an sts .28 engine.

Some pics:

and a video http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?d

Any other Savage owners on here?

Dave

Did the bad landing kill it? And after all that control you'd showed on the other jumps getting the throttle just right, tut tut.

I know - typical eh?! got a bit carried away trying to get a big jump and a split second lack of concentration = a bang! re the damage, in the top photo you can see the front shock tower is purple aluminium, well that attaches to the diff housing, and the screw holes in the diff housing got damaged so I had to replace one half of the diff casing. Thankfully I had a spare at home. Pretty amazing really - those sort of jumps over tarmac are a tad risky and when you think of the impact its amazing nothing else broke. They are tough machines, generally speaking so long as they land on their wheels they will land huge jumps without damage (though I have bent a few shocks here and there).

Have you got one?

No but I'm thinking of getting one. I have a 2wd (to the rear) nitro car with an NSX body, it's very very challenging to drive but when you finally get it to drift it's very cool. It's pretty much useless trying to pilot the bugger in anything less than perfect conditions though.

You've summed up why I got one - the fact it can go just about anywhere. It'll top 40mph, it pulls wheelies, you can drop it from head height onto concrete and it won't break (or bounce - shocks are awesome). All in all a very good package in my opinion.

I had one of these the savage ss for a while there great fun and can take alot of abuse but in the end i sold it as i wasnt using it and the club i went to folded so i just race 1/10th scale elctric touring and buggies. If you havnt already done so the modifcations i thought were best in terms of performance aare the double vented metal disc or carbon fibre and the aluminium drive that goes into the disk.
