Who makes the best quality static scale cars? Some I've seen look like they've been in a crash with shocking shut lines and cheap plastic. I fancy a classic aston, perhaps a zagato, or maybe a miura, about 6-8" long. Does anyone make decent ones, maybe £100+ ?

I think Exoto and CMC make the best cars
and are in another league to the rest of 'em.
Well, 1:18th scale anyway.

Exoto and CMC I would agree are the finest models around, but deliveries on these two brands are nortourous for delays, with some Exoto's having taken over three years to arrive in the UK!! Best to order direct, with Exoto being base in the US and CMC in Germany, their sites are:

Exoto: http://www02.exoto.com/Menu/index.asp

CMC: www.cmc-modelcars.de/en/index.htm

The only issue some collectors have with these two brands is the price, with models normally starting at the £150 mark.

If you still want good quality at an affordable price, say £40-80 then there are three main players to consider, Kyosho, Minichamps and AUTOart. All three offer models of a similar high standard, but the problem with the first two is the range is very small, where as AUTOart have a huge range of cars to choose from.

Mattel are trying their best to get close with their ELITE range under the Hotwheels brand, but having seen these up close, they are not close to the former three brands I mention.

At the end of the day it is all about choice and how much you wish to spend on your collection. Happy collecting...

yes I'd agree with the post above ^^^^^^^^^^^

AUTOart models are simply superb and the other two are very close in the quality stakes too. For some AUTOart model pictures check out the link below i posted to a guy in NZ. (AUTOart's are towards the end)
