If you like AUTOart models then you'll enjoy these stunning new photos of the pre-production sample. Expected delivery is now due in early 2007 and comes in silver (pictured) or green, plus a black convertible version. Scale is 1:18 scale so the model will be approx 250mm in length and the RRP is set at £44.99 which makes this a very affordable addition to your collections.

Regards

I really hope autoart have improved their build quality, the last model I got from them (Gallardo) was terrible (thank god I never paid the ridiculous RRP). Mind you if those pics showing the rear bumper’s colour mismatching the body, the wing mirror sticker peeling round the edges and ill fitting boot and bonnet lines are to be believed then they haven’t.

Last few Autoart models I've looked at have been pretty poor, detail-wise, for the RRP. Have they moved their manufascturing/assembly base to save money ? Maybe some home for the partially sighted in Bangkok ?

These images are pre-production shots. The final examples that the public get their hands on are of a better standard. Sorry to hear that you have had problems in the past with AUTOart, IMHO they are the best on the market for the price. Minichamps come a very close second. Never had an unhappy customer yet regard to quality. The very rare occasion with a damaged item, but thankfully that is rare.

Awesome, guys, keep up the good work.

By the way, can I order anything I fancy from your website?

I'd get into trouble from the forum moderators if I tried to force you to order online from us, so I'll leave you to make that decision yourself

Hi Scott,

When do you expect the delivery of these cars (coupe and convertible). It was announced "end of year" on your website and my other half was expecting Santa Claus to bring it to me for Christmas (modelautohaus in fact ;-) but it seems that this won't happen...

On my side, I have always been happy with Autoart models till now and expect that this model won't make me change my mind.

Hi Sebastien

While some retailers are still saying both online and in print that the Jags are coming to the UK in time for Christmas, the latest we have from AUTOart directly is they have slipped into 2007 now. There is no sign of them on the shipping scedule for the container arriving this week with loads of Lotus V8's and alll the new Aston DBR9 models.

However, you never quite know what the guys back in China put into the containers, but I'm not promising any of our customers a pre-Christmas delivery now as we don't want to give false hope to those who have already pre-ordered through us.

When they do come, I think the wait will have been worth it, you only have to see the recent releases to see that AUTOart are the best around for your money these days when it comes to 1:18 scale.

Dear Scott,

Thanks for your answer.

It seems, unfortunately fo Autoart and its fans, that Minichamps has been much quicker as both coupe and convertible are already for sale and on time for Christmas delivery. Quality seems to be fine as always with Minichamps.

The Aa Jaguar XK will be and is far superior than the Minichamps version has an RRP of £22.99, despite one certain retailer who claims this model should retail at £39.99 or even £49.99 but they have negotiated a "terrific deal" with the UK importer exclusively for British collectors to sell this model at £24.99.

Those Minichamps Jaguars can only be sold at that price becuase they have dropped the level of detail and quality. That recent range of sub £25 1:18 scale models was introduced to cator for those with a smaller wallet! Quality comes at a price as I've always said...

At least you have the choice to spend a little more to get a much better product.
