Hi,

Been thinking of getting a smaller r/c to blat around the office and in the house.

I would need something that could handle carpet (tho fairly short pile) so I was thinking the Mini Z MA-010 which is AWD.
Otherwise the HPI 1/18 Mini Sport or what ever the current name is - but its not shaft driven which I've heard can be a problem? However, I think I would rather get a Tamiya TB-02 chassis car tho if im going for something decent.

Andybody got any experiances or suggestions for the Mini Z?

Thanks.

Hello, just registered to reply to this. I’ve had quite a few mini-zs over the years and never learnt my lesson. Don’t get one, they're not that reliable and very expensive to repair (for little cars) I found the plastic soft and cheap, which is not good when you have to use metal screws, one crossed thread when taking it apart to clean the dust out and you need new plastic parts.

I recommend this for small scale fun: www.rc10.com/shusting/CatalogHub/kitspecs_18t/kit18t.htm

but if 1/18 is too big for indoors have a look at this
www.teamlosi.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=LOSB0230
which is due out soon

Have you seen the new Tamiya TamTech gear series? Frog etc.

Lots of 'hop up' parts available to upgrade it also.

Cheers, those Loshi look rather pricey and from the images I've seen not that great either? Certanly dont appear to offer good value for money.

Those Tamiya's look ok, will have a surf to find out some more info on them.

Thanks.

I had a mini-z for a time, after driving 1/10 ic and even 1/10 electric they are very slow and flimsy... The stadium trucks look pretty good... they race them indoors at Southampton club as well as the 1/24 touring cars (which look more professional than the mini-z) with proper electrics and cells.

Look for an ABC Hobby 1/24 dtm

or the 1/18 scale xray

Thanks for the suggestions, after much reading and debating I'm going to opt for an FTX Blaze, 1/18 and pretty good in stock form by all accounts
Price wise its looking like £62 for the rolling chassis and motor, £40 for a Futaba 2ER set with servos, then finally a battery/charger and ESC. So should come all in for about £130. Bit more than I wanted to spend but looks a nice machine
