Favourite Car Kits That You Have Assembled?
Discussion
One of mine has to be the Tamiya 1:24 Le Mans winning Jaguar XJR 9.
Back then, without the internet, detail references were scarce and shading/weathering was a bit hit and miss. How times have changed. Just look at this site where the Tamiya and Hasegawa kit versions are compared- with many detailed shots of the original car(s)!:

A fantastic reference for anyone wanting to build either one of these kits now!
Really, really wish Tamiya had produced a kit in 1:12 scale

Wow, where to start?
Probably with Tamiya, methinks, they have a knack of producing kits that almost fall together. I personally rate:
Jaguar XJ220 (although if you can get hold of it, Italeri's version is near as dammit as good).
Sauber Mercedes C9 is an excellent kit, and recently re-issued.
The early nineties DTM kits are superb too (Merc C-Class, Alfa 155, Opel Calibra).
I remember struggling with the Jag XJR9 when I tried building it several years ago, but have resolved to do a better job when I get round to my more recent example. At my current building rate, I estimate somewhere around 2015...

If you are interested in model cars, have a look here. Possibly the best site of it's kind. Lots of info/where-from/how-to/advice and piccy's of members models are awesome. Enjoy.

Quite familiar with that site. The owner's one of the moderators (IIRC) on the car modelling section of Automotive Forums, which is a site I advise you only peruse if you can set aside a spare day or so. Linkage:

Only problem is, whenever I go on there, I get very itchy fingers - I've been out of the game in modelbuilding for over a year or so, moving house and circumstances mitigated against me a bit. This site gets the old creative juices flowing again, I need to set up my cellar as a workshop...
Or the missus says my unbuilt models will be ebayed. Noooooo!
