Erm.....so why?

This is my first visit to this particular forum as me & some guys from work are looking at having a Scalextric evening. Just having a quick read & apparently building your own circuit out of MDF & copper is the done thing (for those into that kind of thing!).

But...I don't see the point unless you're really into the actual hands-on/diy-aspect of building your own circuit with MDF & a router. I can't see any advantage at all over using actual Scalextric?

Anyone care to explain the attraction of doing it this way?

I guess there are a few reasons why the router idea is best.
You can have any layout you like
You can have as many lanes as you like
You are not tied to straights or curves provided by Scalextric

Personally, I like my fingerso will be sticking with thetraditional way of circui building

Apart from the advantages stated by Mark, a well built MDF track will be flatter, give superior grip and better conductivity to the pickup. A Scalextric car will run pretty well on either option but a more advanced slotcar requires a more advanced track to run on. Lots of info can be found on www.bscra.co.uk
