Scalextric - Goodwood circuit.
Discussion
Well after many years I am back in the world of Scalextric having just bought the TVR Challenge set.
Now I'm a grown up I'm going to do it properly and have it all set up in the garage on a board that will come down from the roof on a pulley system.
I want to build the Goodwood circuit for a number of reasons, among them it is my closest circuit and I just love it, not too tricky with nice fast straights nd some pretty quick bends too.
Question is (and I've googled for a day or so now), is there a circuit layout diagram in existence or am i going to have to develop one myself? Not sure I'll get the full 1:32 ratio but wouldn't mind getting close and hoping to recreate the paddock area and other buildings too.
Any advice out there?

That is for the newer scalextric, not sure if this would be of any help to you but have a look.
I'l go to my local modeller's after school tommorow and ask about a magazine or anything similiar that could help.

MDF + router + copper tape gives you the track of your dreams which will fit into the space of your reality.

It's a link that's been posted before, but it's a goody.

Don't know if this might help...

Thanks Mark thats one of the better plans I have seen as it actually shows Paddock Bend. Might well come in useful.
Ideally I'd like a drawing already designed for Scalextric or something with the length of the straights etc so I can scale down.
Wonder if Lord March would let me drive around it slowly and measure

Thanks Mr. Beckermann, but while I am happy to have a crack at the scenery, actually making the circuit with a router and stuff is way beyond me!
Some good stuff in that link though, very impressive.

Ahh, give it a whirl, you may surprise yourself.
Yes but surely I'll need all my fingers to build the track and operate the cars?

Good point, well made!
I've been toying with the idea of building a track, but for me it's the building exercise rather than the racing element that I suspect I'll find more interesting. I'd sort of gone off the idea until I started reading about the routed tracks, so am back looking at it again.
Routing isn't hard at all. If you can use a jigsaw, you can use a router, they're quite fun!
Edited to add: Look at this site;
www.slotcarmanager.de/
where you can download what look sliek a track planner with the ability to add the Scalextric track database so you can use their parts.

Hope you've got a big space available ....
Based on the pdf track diagram linked above, the real circuit is 3.83km long, so true 1/32 would make the Scalextric version just under 120 metres long - BIG track!
Be great fun though !

Yup had considered that. It may not be quite exactly to scale!
S**t... that would make my 30 metre version of the Nordschleife, rather haphazardly laid out in the living room of my parents' humble estate (no way in h*ll that would fit in my apartment) look rather silly in comparison...
Oh well, at least all of my petrolhead mates who saw it instantly recognised the overall shape, and grinned...
