Wren jet turbine engines...
Discussion
...Anyone have any experience with these?!
Awesome devices.
I'm just really interested in seeing a running one in real life - not even in-situ - but on a test-bench. Utterly fascinating!!
(P.s. Wren are the only/first people to have developed model jet engines - which can not only be deployed in standard thrust applications - but also as turbo-prop - and turbo-shaft for helicopters! Amazing!)

Hey thanks for the replies dudes - and that link has been bookmarked!
That's exactly the sort of project I'd like to get into - a jet on a car. That way you get to 'experience' the engine at close-quarters - it's not flying about miles above you.
On the Wren website - one guy's made a dragster - but through turboshaft and gearbox.

running through a gearbox would be my preference, but it doubles the cost..
i think maybe just a model land speed record type jobby.
I think I'd scratch build as well, putting one in that truck chassis looks like making things difficult.
I must admit though i hadnt really thought about brakes
I did get a couple of ducted fan electric motors and strap them to the top of a koyosho optima mid chassis, works surprisingly well
