My first kit for about 15 years and apart from discovering I'm as blind as a bat I've discovered that Airfix have not improved over the years, what a piss poor quality kit, it's more like a toy and the flash, mould and distortion is amazing.

it must be a good 30 years old now.

i remember when they brought out the focke wolfe 190 in the early 80's, and it was a marked improvement on the spitfire and the 109 i'd built before.

What do you expect for the cheap price.

You should see some of the dodgy Russian and Chinese kits though

Compared to the Harrier it's cheap I spose, is that how it works then? spend more and the kit'll be better

You can never go wrong with Tamiya - always cheap bargains on ebay. No 1/24th scale kits though.

I reckon you could still turn a decent P51 out of the Airfix kit. The u/c needs beefing up though - can't really stand the weight of the completed kit. I've had mine (made for me by my Dad) since it's first release in '74.
