I use art shop supplied Letraset dry rub down transfers for 1/24 but not sure if their range goes small enough for 1/43rd - worth a look I`d say. If you`re doing a specific car and can digitally photograph it front & rear, print those pictures in various sizes until the numberplate on the image is correct to the model size - cut it out and double sided sticky tape it on! Can`t get more accurate than that! To avoid wasting expensive photo paper, I print on normal paper and stick clear sellotape over the numberplate I want, then cut out. It stiffens & protects the paper for handling and gives the plate the right shiny plastic look too.
