I am interested in getting a RC Car, definately off-road.

But I do not want an RTR one, anyone got any recommendations on cars that need to be built?

thanks,

Most Tamiya kits need to be built, but a lot of the Nitro models now tend to come RTR

Some kits like the HPi Savage have an option to buy the kit as opposed to RTR.

yes, that looks interesting - what is the build time any idea?

done quite a few Tamiya electric models over the years - fancy trying a petrol.

nearly tried a Kyosho MP3 a couple of years ago but was put off by the price (about £750! - kit only) - don't think they are around now?

Are you looking for a 1/8th or 1/10th scale nitro buggy or truck?
HoBao do the Hyper7 in a kit form somewhere, The Savage SS truck is Kit build.

No idea on build times, can take a few hours to a few days depending on your skill and kit.

And please dont confuse Nitro with Petrol models i have a 1/5th scale that uses proper 2 stroke petrol

yes I understand the difference - the 1/5th scale sounds pretty impressive!

do you know if anyone produces a model for something similar to rock-climbing they do with full size offroaders?

You can get a load of bits for the old Tamiya Clodbuster, just search google for Mod Clod. Or you can buy a kit like this:-

But they are electric and not cheap! Impressive though

those look pretty good - some of the conversions sound like a good project to take on.
