Ok Ok Im sad enough to admit that i've got around 120 scalextric / slot cars.
mainly GT cars made by the likes of Fly/ninco/scx/scalextric but some of the low volume stuff as well.
any one else...
I mainly buy my stuff from www.scalemodels.co.uk and logging on after a few beers can be expensive

Me - all put away for the moment.
I've done my best to recreate the Scalextrix set my dad bought for us in 1967 - Shell flyover, white bendy railings, Austin Healy 3000 etc. I've also managed to get hold of some of the old classic Scalextrix trackside accessories - like the old grandstand and control tower.

Starting gantry, Dunlop Bridge, Miles of track, loads of the really good old scalextric cars (GT40, Tiger, Mini Cooper, SD1 police car, Alpine Renault, Porsche 911 Turbo's, Escort Mexico
) loads of granstands, pit buildings, chicanes, banked curves... Oh, and who could forget the smoke start? Trouble is... a mate and I thought it a great idea to set it all up after a few beers one sunday not too long ago.
3 hours to set up... Scale length was probably pushing the nordschleife
Ten minutes to get bored and take it all up again.
The problem was that it shattered some great memories. Should have left it in its box.
Would never sell any of it, it holds great sentimental value.
Another big slot car fan here!
I am in the process of building my kids a permanent layout in a small corner of a loft room. With the help of one of those track planner shareware packages I managed to squeeze an 18 metre two lane track into a small space – and both lanes are equal lengths.
I put in some fairly dramatic changes in elevation so that the kids could see and reach most of the track from the front. They are six years old so the front is a little over knee high and the suspension bridge at the back is about eye level.
I plan to add some scenery and make the front twisty section a bit like the Stelvio pass. But at the moment we spend too much time using it and not enough time finishing it off.
We are racers rather than collectors so most of the cars are rather battle worn!

I better show another shot just to prove that I do actually let then use it….
The suspension bridge was needed to fit it all in. It makes a nice feature and I haven’t seen one on a scaley layout before. The track narrows to a chicane as it goes over too.

This is great! It reminds me of when I was a kid and my best mate had a huge Scalextric (note the spelling, Eric! 
) layout in his cellar. It was bloody cold down there but we didn't really care as we had some cracking duels using Mk1 Escorts, Mini 1275GTs, a JPS Lotus 77, an STP March and a Porsche 911 that had working headlights! I think it was the first model they did with lights.
I've still got all the kit from about 20-odd years ago including a Williams FW07 (in low-drag form as I snapped off the front wings
), a Renault RS01, Ferrari 288GTO, Audi quattro with 4wd, Datapost Metro, six-wheeled March with 4 wheels ( again), a red Capri with headlights and various parts of a Brabham BT44! Our (my brother and I) stuff got well used and abused and looking at the exquisite models that are available today from the likes of Ninco and Fly and Scalextric themselves, I wouldn't let kids near them!!

I had that set as well - Club 60 I think it was called.
I used to buy bits for it every birthday - grandstands, control tower etc.
My sister gave it all away when I was away at university!!
My 2 boys are now really into slot cars and I have recently bought a lovely Scalextric E-type which was made in 1971 - runs beautifully.

Yes, the Goodyear bridge has a couple of lights shining down onto sensors hidden under each lane. I used a bit of shareware from Virtual Race Systems who also sold me two sensors. It works well.

I have just upgraded all my old track to the new style, also for my children :-) The track tends to come out once a year at Christmas.
Bought some Carrera cars which are superbly detailed. Seem to go very well. Are they exactly the same scale as the scalextric cars?
Some of my old cars seem to have worn the motors. Is it worth replacing the motors? Do you bother to change them?
Any ideas how much old style track sells for?

Got loads of old cars (D-Type Jag, Aston DBR-1 etc.) and loads of track. Combined with my Dads stuff and all my more modern cars we could put together a huge layout.
Unfortunately, although approval has been forthcoming from the missus for a permanent loft layout, it is somewhere near the bottom of an extremely long list of DIY jobs.
