After trials and tribulations of building my 1/4 scale cub,I think a short build series on my Christmas present wouldn't hurt - Boston for scale.

Have decided to go electric for this. Weirdly when I went to purchase servos (spektrum) they said they were not getting any in until May?! Not sure if that's the same case in UK. Meantime I've put an order for the 6 required to someone selling on ebay.

Wow that's HUGE! I thought my Tamiya boxes were a problem!
I'd love one but I hear flying them in the open is somewhat restrictive nowadays?

I mean this size you're better off doing it at a registered airfield - and for here in the US it's just a case of registering it for $5 and putting the number on the bottom of it and joining the AMA (for insurance).

I have quite a few sub 200gm(?) versions that I just fly in the driveway at home and they aren't classes as drones.

Life gets in the way of course, and jeez when I paid close to $200 for the motor I honestly thought I would get something a little more impressive than something that looks similar to my 1980's tamiya electric motor (impressed with the quality of the ali mount thou).

I was longing after this kit since moving to AZ, and this box had been on prime display for past 6 years, however the plastic has turned into fragile brittle parts, and cutting the flanges has resulted in a number of cracked parts.

Wings have been completed (inc wingtips with lights not shown). For the servo hatches I was short a couple of teak mounts, so substituted for some pine instead. Naturally I dropped the string to feed the servo wires thru the ribs, but nothing a coat hanger couldn't sort out.
Aileron and flap hinges were a weird chopped strand fiber glass sheet cut to size that I neglected to use gloves for during installation : /

One issue I have hit is that the front landing gear isn't straight, so the wheel 'pant'(?) sits at an angle... I tried straightenig with wrench, but it basically refuses to twist to a 90 degree angle : /
