My Uncle sent me this train years ago, he passed a few months ago and maybe it is time to sell it now.

However I have no idea what it is. The gauge is 3cm between the parts of the wheels that keep it on the train.

There are no markings or branding on it, and Google lens failed me. Maybe a clever and kind PH'er can give me some info before I pop it on eBay, or put it back in the loft. He also left me 75 car tea pots.

How is is powered? Is it electric?

Small point if pedantry, it's a locomotive not a train!

Good point! It seems to have a burner, and their is pipework. The bottom t shaped brass part seems to be loose and can probably be removed but it won't budge and I don't want to break it.

Looks to be scratch built by a model engineer rather than a mass produced commercial offering. Seems to have some ready made fittings(mamod safety valve).

Thanks, no idea where he got it from. Probably a car boot sale, like most of his possessions!

I was wondering (from the sliughtly chunky appearance) if it was a brass-kit; the knurled brass on the valve also drew my eye as it seems unusual.

It looks like a spirit fired O Gauge "Jinty" and a quick google suggests if it wasn't hand built then maybe Burtons or Leech were the manufacturer. It might be worth a tank of V- Power at auction.

Don't fire it without getting the boiler pressure tested.
