Good morning chaps and chapesses,

I was bought a 1:43 Clio Williams and I wondered if I can buy/order numberplates for it to replicate my old (real) Williams?

You've probably got to trawl the evil-bay a bit, but typically (and not only):

I've done them before with an ink jet printer and photo paper, but it's a bit fiddly to get exactly what you want at the correct size.

Super, thankyou.

I did search ebay but that one didn’t come up for some reason!

I have considered making them myself via a printer, guess it is trial & error to get font size correct?

There’s a PH member called Red Firecracker who used to do this,
he was very good and very reasonably priced.
I don’t know if he still offers this service.

I used MS Word as it has a measurement line top and side, so gets you a bit closer. Fonts are down to what you have installed, but I'm sure there are plenty of free downloads for .ttf files that are very close to UK number plate styles. Use a sharp knife, straight edge and a cutting board to get them cut out and don't leave the model too near the window, as they will fade eventually.

Font here : https://fontmeme.com/fonts/uk-number-plate-font/
print them on inkjet vinyl and they will last longer and look better

Go to a site such as Fancyplates.com, where you can chose the exact fonts as used in various periods, you can even add your dealer name. Take a screenshot, then attach to a MS Word document where you can adjust the size to match exactly the scale measurement. Print on label paper if you want it self-adhesive, then give it a quick spray of acrylic gloss.

About 12-15 years ago I had a TVR Chimeara and picked up a 1.43 white metal model to make as a replica, but it was beyond my abilities to put together. I used SMTS in Hastings (https://www.smtsmodels.com) who built and painted it and also fitted the correct number plates, and IIRC charged me about £60.
