Hi everyone,

I want to buy a model car of everything i've owned from the 80's to now - Where would i start to look?

I don't really mind if there's a mis-match of scale, but i might want to get the colour right if i can.

To help, here's what the list looks like:
Classic Mini, MG Metro, 205 GTi, Mk2 Golf GTi, Golf VR6, Mk1 Audi S3, L200 Truck!, Mk2 Audi S3, Prodrive RX8, Audi S4 Avant, Caterham, SLK55, 981 Boxster S, Disco 4, Disco Sport, V12 Vantage
I'm sure i've missed some, but you get the idea.

Thanks in advance,

Might find a fair amount of that list on here.

Good luck with the search. Nice idea.

Sounds like a good idea and might do something like that myself if I can find all the cars.

These guys have a lot of choice too. I casually try to keep up with this but some cars are surprisingly elusive!

Nice plan. 1/43 gives the most choice & takes up less room. Unless you are going to repaint them yourself I think you might need to be more forgiving.

Easiest start (in addition to the suggestions above) is pop each car into Google.

I've done similar...and bizarrely the only car I could never find is a Vauxhall Viva HC (one of the most common cars around in its day)

Great idea for a collection, will be unique to you, so very cool

As said 1 43 is best, more choice and takes up less room

Have a similar of collection of cars unique to me, goes back to the 80's too, cars I've helped design, sort of got out of hand a bit, up to well over 100 cars

great idea, I did the same also from the 80-tish onwards, started long time ago, a mix also 1/18 but those old cars were not nice say matchbox from long ago, I sold all that or most already and since a few years only 1/43 scale, those are the best and compact and full of details in the later years.

I bought a lot via ebay but also local websites and specialist sellers/dealers from all over the world, many also from Japan (expensive but there you can find those brands mostly with other second (model) names then here in Europa.

problem bit all in all, maybe I forgot 2 or 3 luckily long time ago I started writing cars up otherwise I knew I would forget so many, incl trade i cars I also drove in to my next chosen car, so had at least 122 cars...

Bought a nice special aluminium showcase and let all cars also in their own see through showcases, for against dust... otherwise over years things brake of and so on, so leave them protected a bit, example.

here are all 4 BME e36 Compacts I've owned (hard to find, found them all by a collector) in the right color and wheels also almost the same most.

and here a overview of my once owned cars but then in 1/43 some were very expensive also that big showcase, all together at least 9.000,-euro... crazy, but love them.

only a few need to be changed for once in the right color and 4 or 5 I still seek in the right model.
some never made yet, some came on the market a while ago, so bought them direct, say the newly brought out Ford Escort RS2000 mk2 in yellow and orange, needed 5 so that was a nice part fixed for my collection.

Great idea, I thought of doing that about twenty years ago. Unfortunately by the time I thought of it several of the cars I owned in my teens were no longer available or never made it to model of the car.
