Hey guys and girls. So I'd love a model of my 650s, but literally the only one I've been able to find is 10k + from amalgam.. Nowhere near what I wanted to pay but i'll think about it if they really are 'that good'

So that's my question really, are the models from amalgam really worth the money? Very hard to tell from the stock photos.

for that amount, I could probably buy a 3d printer and have a go at making one from scratch laugh

Not sure about value for money but many years ago they had a big stand at the Classic Lemans. As a model car collector (mostly Corgi Lotus models) I was blown away at the bare resin models on display. The detail was exactly what you would expect for the price but nonetheless as close as the real thing I've ever seen. I must have spent 5 -6 hours there.
Just found these that I took in 2014 at the Classic.

wow great pics thank you - I guess I should have qualified 'value' - I was keen to know if the detail was there or if they were just a case of premium pricing and a so-so product. close to the real thing is exactly what I'd hoped for Cheers

Ah thanks will check that out, ordering from japan isnt too bad for me in Perth, b ut I'd like to get a bigger one ideally. the Mrs did find me a cool 1/24 model in the right colour which proudly sits on my desk, but I just love 1/18's and above for the cabinets in my shop smile

If I remember correctly there is quite a price range, well at least there was when I enquired obviously the more expensive models seem to be replicas of the real thing as far as components are concerned. Then I think there is a range where it's basically just the car shell without opening doors etc. Either way the finish on these models exceptional. I'm just heading over to their website now to have a look at what they offer these days
If it's any help I have in my collection models from CMC, AutoArt, BBS although not quite in the Amalgam league they are very good.
