Finally bit the bullet!
Discussion
Over the Christmas period as I have some time off work I've been doing some sorting out of the model kits I've accrued over the years.
I was an avid model kit maker in my youth, but once I got a real car my interest and budget diminished.
I've recently had a resurgence in interest following a WW1 battle field tour I went on in October.
This is my stash
I've had some of the kits over 35 years, some were gifts from my kids and some I've bought over the last few years when visiting Hobbycraf and my local model shop.

Good luck and let us know how you get on! I started modelling again after a break of 30 years during recovery from cancer treatment in 2022. I also went straight into buying an airbrush with compressor and it’s been a steep but fun learning curve. There are some brilliant guides on YouTube and I’d recommend looking at Sprues and brews, night shift and champion scale modelling as a start.
I would experiment with your airbrush before you start using it for modelling - it can get very frustrating and took me 5 goes from scratch to get a 3 colour scheme on my Tiger 2 when it kept getting spoiled with splatters and runs.
What I would say is the level on YT is really high and yours probably won’t look like theirs, the most important thing is to have fun, not get disheartened and try new techniques out. You will see a staggering rate of progress if you are happy to put the time in, experiment and make mistakes

I have fond memories of Airfix kits as a kid, I recall an F15 and MiG-29 were the first I made, although being young I didn't realise you were supposed to paint the fuselage, so they were all grey with just a few painted components and then the stickers (hateful things trying to get them in the right place without twisting)
Once I realised my error I remember doing a decent job on a Halifax bomber and Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer. A few years ago I built an Impreza rally car but got disheartened as I couldn't get a decent finish on the paint. Could be tempted again but using a proper airbrush.
Good luck OP and enjoy

Not much progress on the BSA this evening I'm afraid.
I assembled the compressor and air brush and then decided it was too small to paint by air brushing, so I've started painting it with a brush.

I painted my little M20 with an airbrush over Christmas. It worked ok then I weathered it mainly with acrylics from a tube. May look over-oiled and weathered but I have jeans that prove this era of BSA do lose a bit of oil
My basic method was to assemble the whole bike bar the bags and bag frames then spray the whole thing matte black (Tamiya XF1). Then went over it with Tamiya matte green but tried to leave some ‘shadows’ of the black under. I brush painted the tyres and silver with Revell Aqua. Then used normal artists cheap acrylic paints to add some tone and paint the bags.
I’ve watched so many tutorials on YouTube it started to get a bit overwhelming so in the end I picked a couple of basics id seen and went with it. And whilst far from great I’m happy with it at that scale
As mentioned in the other thread it needs a coat of matte yet!
