1:18 model 911 in snowy setting from my youth
Discussion
Some help needed as i cant find anything like it anywhere..
One christmas in my very distant past i was given a very detailed 911 (thought bburago but obv not) set in a snowy setting, skis on the roof, spray snow on the windscreen and splattered up the side, sure it was in rothmans livery so probably the iconic 911sc from the 80s, was boxed so not much of a setting around the car, think it was more about the car, maybe on some rough terrain looking mounting block to give it an angle..
Trying to find it again, hopefully in an original box etc, any tips who the manufacturer might have been? Purchased from a wholesaler called ‘thunder and claydons’ long since out of business i think.
Jog anyones memories?

Thats a good shout, not the one but better than i did! You’re right, i’m either wrong on the Rothmans or the skis, it was definitely in a scene / setting of some kind, although it was boxed it actually had a clear plastic presentation case that it sat in and it was screwed to the base of the presentation case as it was sat at an angle for effect.
It was incredibly authentic to a 10 year old, there were others in the set to but cant remember what they were.
Polistil i’d forgotten, any other big names from that era that did this kind of model?

I've been playing with the Dall E 3 AI tools on Microsoft's Bing site. Decided I'd ask it your question. Think the Rothman's livery was beyond it, but how the heck does it do this?
It did forget a driver though...
Those are bloody brilliant, if a bit scary feel for artists right now.It did forget a driver though...

Could it have been a smaller scale?
Mebe did a 912 with skis which was smaller at 1/43 scale.

Guisval did a 911 with skis, again smaller at 1/35 scale

Definitely snow on the windshield and clear where the wipers had wiped it off so quite well detailed.
I think Tangerine has something with Polistil, i was just on the cusp of falling asleep and had one of those visions as you’re drifting off and the way that Polistil is branded just flashed as part of the packaging, i’ll look through their achives…
Rothmans may or not been part of the livery..
Eta: bugger! Revell looks familiar to
