Prepare to be bored.

I aim to do a build thread on the above kit released 2 weeks ago.

Will be lightly weathered as Mrs Prolex wants it on display in the front room.

Kit comes with detailed engine and equipment.

Have bought 4 figures and extra guns and stowage items.

Chassis and engine first

Kit cost £175. Unlike most resin kits all parts have been removed for you and are top quality.

Lets get going

Interested to see this progress. I bet it will be heavy! Is this the same thing that Tamiya did in 1:35 scale?

Yes it is.

Have the crew to do as well.

I’ll be watching with interest as I’ve not seen a KFS kit go together & always fancied doing one of their Truck conversions.

Plodding along.

No issues to report so far.

Enjoyable build so far.

Making the buckles for tie downs is a pain.

What colour, or mix, did you use for the pink please.

AK11059

AK pastel colours

Called pastel pink

Tamiyas X17 was too pink for me.

Tried to depict it as faded

Will do the smoke grenade launchrrs in the tamiya pink as a crew change...

That’s great, thank you.

I have the 1/35 Tamiya kit to build.

Superb work, looks really good.

Thanks.

According to the research I did the underneath is pink as well.

Article said first batch of landies rejected by SAS as not painted. Apparently not being painted causes a vehicle to be visible from above...

Also tyres were painted pink on side walls. Have dry brushed mine.

Nice work so far.

Strange that pink works in the desert, and that some PR aircraft were also pink. I think it's to do with reflectivity and dawn/dusk visibility rather than just background colour.

Are you going to add any weathering?

Yes.

Mainly dust. Maybe some rain marks.

Scuffs inside.

Engine is very LR.... Dirty.

Need to do more research.

Have 3 KFS crew members as well. Lovely casting.

Aim to have it parked up with bonnet up and guys looking to left with commander sat on front spare wheel reading a map...

Struggle with faces. Will give it my best shot

Surely as SAS in a desert theatre they’ll have their shemags up.

Also in all the pics I've seen, the SAS have black rectangular eye protectors.
