Anyone got one? I’ve wanted a large scale car for decades, but never wanted the noise a petrol one came with. Now there are electric ones it’s rather tempting.
This photo showing 1:5 with 1:10 is amazing!

www.rapid-racing.co.uk sell them, I’ve found out so far there are two chassis lengths, 510 or 530mm.
You can convert between both with some spares, but probably best to choose which you should get based on which shells you plan to buy.
The E30 is a no brainer for me, so has to be the 510!
There are more available for the 530 though such as the Audi A4 DTM, so it’s a bit of a dilemma.

Where do you drive them? I get 1/5 off road in the park or what-not but are you running these on the road? Bit big for a tennis court?

I have an industrial estate close to me that’s dead at the weekends, I drive mine there occasionally, but I like to keep it in the house so don’t drive it very often cause of the smell of petrol. It stays on display in my lounge, gets a lot of attention from anyone that comes to my house, they are impressive bits of kit.

That’s another reason why i wanted electric, not having to worry about smell, grime and noise. I’ve got quiet industrial estates local too, and also a huge disused airfield that’s accessible about half an hour away.
I ordered my chassis this week, I can’t decide on the body yet though. I’ve just found somewhere that does the Alfa 155 DTM which is rather tempting!

Changed my mind at the last minute and swapped to a 530 chassis, mainly because the choice of bodies is a lot bigger, but also because I found a Mercedes 190 Evo 2 shell which is crying out for the Sonax livery.
Now just got to wait for delivery

Still not running, I’ve got side tracked by a B5 S4 shell, I couldn’t resist having owned 2 of them.
I’ll start buying some electronics soon!

Ridiculous bit of kit, so fast! Did a lot of damage when it hit something, like the neighbours fence biglaugh

Mine is an FG too, I can’t wait to get it running! The B5 shell is just about fitted now, hopefully this week I can start masking it up

Finally got everything together and set up, had its first shakedown run this weekend on what I thought would be a plenty big enough industrial estate area. Turns out it’s far from it! Running it in I didn’t want to give it full power runs any way, but it turned out the space wouldn’t allow it any way. I managed to get full power for a second before having to lift off. Got it to 32mph, will be interesting in a larger space!
Was also damp, so it was struggling for grip.
The tyres are scrubbed in now too. Some minor adjustments and tightening of screws with some threadlock and it’s ready for its next session!
Just spraying the mirrors and I’ll post some pics of the body soon now I’ve added some detail.

The thing with on road RC cars is that you're limited to smooth surfaces. For a 1/5 scale you need to find a large enough area. If you can find a large enough area with a smooth surface, you're then limited by the fact that there's only so much fun that can be had by driving around in circles on your jack jones. Do that a few times and you'll find your £1500 toy relegated to a shelf, where it will sit for a long time, until you forget why it's there in the first place. Then one day you'll get all nostalgic and you'll take it out, and proceed break it within 5 mins. Then it will go back on the shelf for another year or two, and the cycle repeats. You'll end up selling it for buttons to someone who will repeat the same cycle.

Anyway... I was watching this loud tt with a speech impediment on YouTube. He had an upgraded traxxas xrt. That thing was the bks. It was huge. Fast AF and incredibly strong. He tried to break it by jumping the life out of it and crashing into and off of skate park ramps, and found it almost impossible to break. That's where my money would be going.
