battery damage li-ion

On my lads RC car one of the plastic mounts that hold the battery strap had snapped off, this resulted in the Li-ion battery flying out of the body at speed and dragging down the road. A small amount of the wrap has worn away revealing the metal battery underneath.

I have "bodged" the battery strap so it goes through the bracket that holds the steering servo down and this will hold the battery in place okay, but knowing nothing about how the battery is constructed, can it still be used like it is, or should I replace it?

If the metal battery casing is not punctured it should be fine.
