Evening,

Much love on here for big bashing vehicles? I’ve got quite into it again in the last year or so… took a boot full out to play the other day and cracked the XRT out this morning.

What have you got and what do you want next?

Cheers

Evening Russ...

The only big basher and traxxas I have is the xmaxx which is an absolute beast! But it can be a bit like turning a narrow boat at times..... Think ahead and start your turn early!

How does the Xrt compare? - the privileges of being in your business means you have one this morning 🤣

I run three arrma 3s (senton,Typhon, granite) for playing with my boys and the Infraction...and many others..

The infraction is hands down my favourite RC car - a proper full on "grown ups" RC car... I'm running 8s @130mph flat out and 90mph for bashing currently and enjoy the fine tuning aspect..... And availability of quality (if not expensive) tuning options....

The Xmaxx is still my favourite, the XRT has to prove itself yet! The Xmaxx is fab and it’s laughable what you can do to it - mine is years old and still going strong!

The XRT is lovely though, super smart and handles like a dream in comparison - the tyres are great. Although I expected it to be a bit quicker? I think it needs the high speed gearing shoved in it and possibly a max 6 when I can be bothered. We’ve actually had an XRT for a few weeks, but kept it clean and tidy for the shop!

Infraction, that must be crazy with 8S! I run both a stock felony (with a bittydesign lambo body) and a stock infraction and much prefer the Infraction now - handling is much more neutral.

Arrma 3S cars are great, pretty great value compared to the traxxas equivalents! Our best selling is the Vorteks though…

Of the cars in the boot though the craziest is the Kraton 6S! It’s a beast and mullers the sledge IMO! Absolute bargain at current prices (£490) - would work nicely with all your 3S batteries wink

Like most rtrs The Xrt is probably setup well for durability and reliability really well out of the box and won't give any bother.... In my experience once you start adding more teeth..... The inevitable happens - jadlam sell more spares!

The arrma 3s cars have proven to be excellent and very durable having three means I can take a sortie box of spares with me and keep all three going if I go out with the kids... Who can be VERY hard on them

I've spent more on tyres for the infraction in the last year than the full size cars I run!.... One sesh can Muller £50 of tyres no bother...that bodyshell looks great but I can tell you now from looking at it - at 90ish it will take off.. which is hilarious and sickeninghehe

What's next.... No more bashers for a while - I've just finished a Schumacher Storm ST but in the winter I spend more time RC flying and driving mini crawlers over piles of logs in the living room!

I reckon I have more lipos than jadlam.... I checked the voltages the other day.....it took hourswobble

Yes, don’t mention Infraction tyres! Arrma must make a mint out of these… I quite like using ours in the yard in the wet. Slows it all down a bit and saves the rubber!

You’ll have to grab a pic of your cars!

Here's one of a well used Infraction letting the genie out!

This is what prompted going to 8s capability and a full rebuild - note the rusty screw heads, despite being kept in the dry with all the others and never used in the wet the screw caps corroded very quickly...

Going out for a play

The mini-B is another of my favourites... A lovely quality micro that handles great...perfect for the pump track...

Nice little pump track you've got there! Yes I know what you mean on the screw caps, we've even had that on a few of our in store display models!

I’m only at the amateur end of the spectrum with these, but I have a 2wd brushed Arrma Vorteks. It’s fun but not very fast. Have got a 4wd conversion to put in and will change to brushless next year. Shown with the RC equivelent of an MX5, the trusty Tracer.

That picture shows our current best selling two cars - both fab.

Get what you mean on the boost vorteks though. We sell a huge amount of them in store, but are trying to get ppl to plump for the 3S version upfront! It’s gonna end up expensive by the time you’ve bought all the other bits..

It’s an absolute pocket rocket though, our demo model gets abused and just keeps going!!

The Tracer is great (it was Jadlam purchase!). My lad, 4, has had it for 9 months or so and it been smashed into and off everything. It’s had 2 new shocks as the bottom eye is a bit vulnerable on the front ones, but apart from that it’s been unbreakable really. Even though it is on a tiny 390 brushed motor it’s got enough power to spin the wheels and do donuts etc. No better starter RC if you don’t want a kit.

Agree, On the Vorteks, but the price is very keen, the 4x4 upgrade is cheap enough and a budget brushless system for a bit more speed is not going break the bank either. I use the 7 cell 8.4v NiMH packs. I wondered if swapping to 2c lipo would be an improvement or step back.

Yea I can’t rave about the tracer enough, it’s our go to first RC and sell 5+ every day in the shop. The brushless version came out a couple weeks ago too…

The plan is for all our staff to get one and have races in the warehouse!

Thanks for getting it from us.

Took the kraton 6S home today for a spin, absolutely rips across a frozen field! Once Xmas is done I’ll smash the XRT up a bit and see what it can really do - but trying to keep it semi presentable for shop demo at the mo!

A 1 make series race series for Tracers would be great starter class for off-road racing 👍

I keep looking at the Felony and Infraction, but am struggling to find any decent bodies for them?
Id love one if I could get stuff like the usual touring car shells etc, is anyone able to point me to some?

Not a huge amount of choice.

Bittydesign do a lambo and macca.

I’ve not really looked into it much yet, is it due to being an unusual wheelbase or scale?

Large and expensive relatively uncommon scale

I've got a few...

Typhon with Kraton arms / hubs / shocks etc.

HyperVS, that started as a nitro, converted to a HW Max8 combo. Don't have a picture to hand, but painted this body for it

Infraction V2 and the BittyDesign Destroyer:

TRX4 that started as a 21 Bronco, modded with a cage and TRX4 Sport body that got sliced and diced

And, most recently...an XRT

I'm soon going to upgrade my Arrma Vorteks Boost to Brushless. I will need a new pinion, but how do I work out what size to get? I'm planning to get a Hobbywing Max10 combo with the longer 550 (3660) size motor and 3200kv.

Wheelietastic!!

If you run 48dp gearing it will strip the spur in no time.... Seconds or maybe a couple of minutes at best I reckon!!

Switching to 0.8mod will be much more durable and a good safe rapid start will be a 17T pinion...

I don't really understand the terminology to do with pinions. Is 48dp what I've got now? To change I guess I just need a pinion and matching spur.
