Model galleon - can anyone ID?
Discussion
Found this wooden model galleon at an antiques market going for peanuts. 65cm long, 45 cm high. Covered in dust. Can find no identifying maker’s mark, or anything exactly the same online. Nearest thing seems to be a model of the Mayflower. Spiegal is German for mirror. Appears to be all wood, with metal anchors and rigging blocks. Someone evidently spent many, many hours building her. Below the decks are a windlass and a working vertical tiller bar. I might try to restore the rigging. Not sure it if is from a kit or scratch built - any ideas?
My guess is it's from a kit, though the stern gallery has a rather home-made look. Possibly a kit from long ago from a manufacturer now defunct?
