Having scratch built the interior of a Revell Shackleton, it seems a shame to hide it so was thinking of lighting it up. Has anyone done something similar and, if so, where did you get the gear from?

Can't tell you exactly but I've seen models of boats, eg Mississippi paddle steamer, with lights so maybe look at those for ideas and possible kits.

Your local model railway shop will be a good place to start, there’s plenty of micro solutions available for that malarkey.

I would suggest looking at some of the LED wholesalers, there are many types depending on your needs, some strips that can be cut and joined with soldered wires to ensure they are positioned correctly, also some modular ones with a 'bubble' over the LED to ensure that the light fans they can also have a drop of paint put on them to colour should you wish. Most can be run easily with a PP9. The ones from the shops tend to be very expensive in comparison. We use them to make commercial lighted signs for shopping centres, but offcuts are great for models.

Many thanks for the suggestions, there's a good railway model shop near my in-laws so will give them a try.
