My boy has always used the joystick type controller until recently I got a ftx tracer which has the trigger and wheel (sorry I don't know the technical terms) he doesn't really get on with the trigger/wheel. Is it worth persevering with the trigger wheel or can someone recommend a decent car with joystick type controller ?

You can swap the receiver in his existing car buy buying something like this - https://www.jadlamracingmodels.com/absima-sr2s-2-c...

In the Tracer, the speed controller is combined with the receiver so to change you’ll need one of each and to find space in the car for them.

Personally, If you think he is going to get into the car side of the hobby I would persevere with the wheel and trigger and just practise. There is very limited choice in stick type transmitters these days unless you looking at the many channel ones for trucks/tanks/planes etc.

I’ve just got a new Sanwa stick and wheel with 10 model memory so I don’t need a transmitter for each car.
